The adventures of the Bula Buddies begins in Viti Village. Viti Village in Fiji is one of many underwater communities that stretch across the South Pacific. Their clan is referred to as the “Vanua”.
The Vanua are very long-lived, some have special abilities that allow the communities to live safely in a sometimes dangerous and changing environment.
Once or twice a generation there’s a teachers council called “The Great Learning”. Dolphins and whales spread the word across the Pacific and the community leaders decide who will attend.

Simeon
is the ambitious leader of the gang who has taken it upon himself to organize a journey to find a better home for his people in Viti Village.
He has noticed some changes taking place in the village and it is not good. He has been to the “Great Learning” and he thinks he knows what is going on and has asked his best friends, Seeker and Heidi, to come on the journey with him.
He has his trusty snail companion he calls Slider that is always by his side to offer him a ride when he is tired.
Seeker will be his trusted scout and Heidi’s special skills will help keep them safe.
Seeker
is Simeon’s best friend and an excellent guide. He takes his job of scout very seriously and will often find himself out “on point” reporting the conditions ahead back to the party.
He is constantly on the lookout for danger.
The only thing on his mind is keeping his pals safe and he loves the adventure. He will do anything for them to keep them safe and the rest of the party knows they can count on him.
He has also developed a strong relationship with his new friend Heidi as the two of them team up to make sure their pal Simeon will complete his mission safely.
Heidi
is a very athletic young lady with special skills.
She met Simeon and Seeker at the great learning and has become fast and close friends.
The other two are counting on her skills and bravery which comes in handy from time to time to help him out of a jam.
Nothing could be more important to her than to make sure her party is safe.
Slider
is always by Simeon’s side.
His distant relatives come from a village far away and he knows the way around to help lead the way.
Since they travel far his shell often provides a good resting place when Simeon gets tired.
Old Doc Cod
is the senior in the group that has “been there and done that” and often reminds the youngsters of his many adventures.
He freely offers his advice … needed or not.
In his early days he was an adventurous explorer and has traveled far and wide but now he is content to watch over his little group. He thinks his advise will keep them from danger and most of the time it does.
He likes to spend long hours daydreaming about his past.
Finnigan
is Flynn’s older brother. He tries to be the sensible one but usually winds up in the same mess as his little brother.
He means well but his curiosity to keep up with Flynn keeps him on his toes.
The rest of the village find him and his brother amusing but they also have reasons to be concerned.
Flynn
is the spark of life that keeps his older brother on his toes.
He is always curious and ready to go. If he spots a cave he must go in. If he looses his way, no big deal, his brother will be there to rescue him.
Somehow he has figured out a way to keep Finnigan wrapped around his little finger.
We all need little brothers like him … right?
Antwan
has taken it upon himself to become the village historian and records every event on his specially developed conch camera. He has unusual insight and is always there when something is happening worthy of his camera.
He has a special companion he calls Dragin who is always by his side.
Dragin
thinks it is his job to sniff under every rock while dragging Antwan around as he tries to hang on.
He does occasionally sniff out a danger but mostly winds up with and angry crab at the end of his nose.
Antwan keeps him happy with a constant flow of his special treats.
Angel
is Dreemi’s older sister.
Angel has a special gift, she can talk to the fishes from far away and she often brings the village important messages.
She is also the self-appointed caretaker of her little sister and often gets frustrated trying to find new ways to keep her awake.
Both tasks keep her on her toes and has little time for anything else.
Dreemi
is our sleepy little mermaid and is Angels little sister.
The world could be exploding all around her and she would barely notice. No matter where she winds up she will always find a nice comfy spot to disappear into a deep slumber.
One day when she finally arises I have a feeling that she will surprise the rest of the gang. When that day comes they might all find out just how much wisdom she has to share.
