‘O Mosese Kei Viliame’ is a Fijian-language children’s book for children aged 6 to 8, with 12 pages. Brothers Mosese and Viliame live with their grandmother Bu Sera in Navivi, Nadroga, where she sells bananas by the roadside. Hungry after school one day, the boys cleverly barter two coconuts for four bananas, a warm everyday story of family and resourcefulness.
Part of a series of ten Fijian big-books created by the Institute of Indigenous Studies (IIS) Fiji Ltd together with the Retired Fijian Teachers Association, and published by the iTaukei Trust Fund Board. Written by Mrs Sainimere Rauqeuqe with illustrations by Anare Somumu, the A3 format, large type and bright pictures are designed to be read aloud to a class from an easel, and enjoyed just as easily at home.
