Na Volivolitaki Ena Makete – Selling at the Market

‘Na Volivolitaki Ena Makete’ is a Fijian-language children’s book for children aged 8, with 20 pages. Close friends Chung and Tevita, of Waibau in Naitasiri, help their parents sell root crops and vegetables at the Suva market on Saturdays. They practise giving correct change, sharpening their arithmetic, and learn to arrange their produce neatly and presentably to welcome customers.

Part of a series of ten Fijian big-books created by the Institute of Indigenous Studies (IIS) Fiji Ltd together with the Retired Fijian Teachers Association, and published by the iTaukei Trust Fund Board. Written by the late Mrs Tuipulotu Vugakoto with illustrations by Anare Somumu, the A3 format, large type and bright pictures are designed to be read aloud to a class from an easel, and enjoyed just as easily at home.
