‘Na Siganisucu Nei Marica’ is a Fijian-language children’s book for children aged 6 to 8, with 9 pages. Friends and relatives gather to celebrate Marica’s birthday in a warm story that teaches togetherness, cooperation and caring for one another from a young age.
Part of a series of ten Fijian big-books created by the Institute of Indigenous Studies (IIS) Fiji Ltd together with the Retired Fijian Teachers Association, and published by the iTaukei Trust Fund Board. Written by Mrs Vika Nasome with illustrations by Anare Somumu, the A3 format, large type and bright pictures are designed to be read aloud to a class from an easel, and enjoyed just as easily at home.
