Sunset Love Birds
This painting is inspired by the artist's love of Fijian sunsets. Epi often cycles to Wailoaloa beach in Nadi, just to watch the spectacular colours unfold over the horizon. In Suva too, Epi noticed on the sea wall that there are lots of couples watching the sunset. Everyone sitting in pairs, young lovers, older couples, and this happened every day. People flocked to watch - sunset love birds.
There is something beautiful about sunsets and lovers in general. For this particular piece, people who are in love can relate to it. Epi said "I actually painted the sun because I love sunsets. Then I thought to have the silhouette of the birds, two birds who are close and cosy to each other. Husband and wife, partners, lovers".
